NAANA AKUMTU BISENSU I (OHUƐWEM AWARDS) FOR BEST BECE GRADUATING CANDIDATES

OHUƐWEM AWARDS FOR BEST BECE GRADUATING CANDIDATES IN ADA EAST AND WEST DISTRICTS 2021/2022.


The Ohuɛwem awards, sponsored by Naana Akumtu Bisensu I and elders of the clan is the first of its kind, honouring the best BECE graduating candidates from the Ada East and West Districts. 


 

The award is to recognize graduates who excelled in the BECE with a single aggregate (aggregate 6)  to aggregate 10.


The awards ceremony took place on April 23, 2022 at Kings Pub in Big Ada. Several dignitaries including; Naana Akumtu Bisensu I (via Zoom), Asafoatsɛ Domu Hɛvi Tsuasam III (Hlamitsɛ of Ohuɛwem), Nene Tetteh Asigbe II (Chief of Asigbekope), Hon. Rockson Moses Sewornu (Assembly Member for Salem-Agorkpo Electoral Area), 


 Mr. Joseph Kwame Adams, Madam Cecilia Partey, and Madam Millicent Akpanglo (all from the Ada East Education Directorate and Success Ambassadors). Parents and Teachers were also honoured the event with passion and enthusiasm.

Five (5) recipients were recognized from the Ada East and West Districts for the inaugural awards. Three (3) females and two (2) males respectively were among the honorees.

1. Vanessa Selasie Ayawli who graduated from Christlove International School, Kasseh and currently at Labone Senior High School, Labone. 


2. Janice Korkor Ayim who graduated from Bornikope School Complex, Bornikope and currently at Achimota Senior High School, Achimota


3. Erica Agbovie who graduated from Luhuese D/A Basic School and currently at Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast


 

4. Bright Tetteh Tsuasam who graduated from Sat Royal School Complex, Kasseh and currently at Mawuli Senior High School, Ho

 

5. Vincent Otu Sebi who graduated from Zion Care International School, Sege and currently at Sogakope Senior High School, Sogakope.

 

Each of the above awardees was awarded with a set of the following mattress, a blanket, two bedsheet with pillow cases, pillow, trank, chop box, a bucket and a sponge dish.


 

The Teachers, Parents and Student present commended Naana Akumtu Bisensu I and the entire Ohuɛwem clan for putting together such an award, which is the first of its kind in the history of Ada.


 

They further appealed to Naana Akumtu Bisensu I and the Ohuɛwem clan to maintain the award in the upcoming years to encourage and keep keen competition among students in order to enhance academic and educational progress in the Ada Traditional area.



Vanessa Selasie Ayawli, on behalf of her fellow awardees pledged to work harder to uplift the image of Ada and mother Ghana as a whole.


In response, Naana Akumtu Bisensu I, elders of the clan and the planning committee promised to follow up on the academic progress of the aforementioned students in their various second cycle institutions and offer them any assistance in the course of their study on condition that they study to maintain high academic and ethical standards.
