The Greater Accra Division 2 Zone 1 game between Take Heart FC and Ada City FC ended before the full time due to a massive fight on the field.
The game was played at the Sege Community Park yesterday, 20th April, 2022. It was a beautiful game with high level of tension between the two sides.
The tension from the game made it a beautiful game to watch. It was all fun when supporters from both teams argued out to each other with clear and clean expressions about the game. I must say it was a game between Liverpool and Chelsea or Kotoko and Hearts or any of the top clash games you can think about.
The beauty of the game begun to dwindle when Ada City FC considered a penalty in the First Half after a player of Take Heart FC was pushed down. Some supporters from Ada City FC trooped to the field of play to confront the referee about his decision but the decision of the referee was final.
The number 6 shirted player of Take Heart FC converted the penalty to give his side the lead. The game became more tensed as the players from both sides were hard on each other. The referee had to caution the players to calm the game.
The beauty of the game was then restored after some players from both teams were booked for their offenses.
The first half of the game ended with a 1:0 lead by the home team.
In the early minutes into the second half, Ada City FC equalized the goal with a beautiful strike from the number 16 shirted player.
Few minutes after the equalizer, the game was interrupted and play was stopped by the referee.
We can't really tell what actually transpired but from the commentary stand, we saw the number 10 shirted player for Take Heart FC going in for the ball which has crossed the line for a goal kick in favour of Ada City FC. All of a sudden, we saw the player with an Ada City FC supporter wrestling for the ball which saw the player wounded with a cut near the right eye.
Immediately, the supporters from Take Heart FC also rushed and pounced on the Ada City FC supporter who hurt the player. There the massive fight begun, and the referee blew his whistle to stop the game.
The whole field was then filled with supporters from the two sides fighting. Many supporters from the two teams sustained various degrees of injury as the injured player was rushed to the hospital.
For more than 20 minutes, the fight was still on. It took the intervention of Commander of the Sege District Police, Mr. Avorgbedor and his men to calm situations on the field.
After the match commissioner narrated what happened to the police, the Commander confirmed to the match commissioner that; The police cannot provide maximum security at that moment hence the game has to be closed.
